I was offered an Artists’ Bursary to access the Producing and Fundraising Masterclasses run by Facciocose Theatre Company in June 2021.
The Producing Masterclasses covered all the principles about self-producing a performance: how to source and book theatres, how to organise production timelines, schedule rehearsals and performances, how to recruit other professionals for a team and write contracts, how to hire a PR Agency, how to set up ticket prices and run the marketing. These sessions were organised by Ellen Spence and Monika Gravagno.
The Fundraising Masterclasses explored why fundraising is a necessary part of making a performance and a very important way to sustain and support work. The classes covered how to identify and engage with new grants and funding bodies, how to create a cohesive funding application, a target audience, a budget and marketing plan to outreach to audiences. These were run by Miriam Sherwood and Monika Gravagno.
These were incredibly beneficial sessions, and that was down to the fascinating training facilitators, and also the fabulous team of producers also on the course. We had the chance to discuss our work and apply our learning to individual projects. This process was even more rich considering how exciting and unique the shows were; I can't wait to see what the future holds for them!
